an artist, a writer, a psychiatrist

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

My main interest is looking for signs of mysteries in our life and studying evidences of their penetrations into the real world. Almost all my paintings and books (edited in Russian and Hebrew) are around this theme. As well I’ve been trying to detect mysterious penetrations in some «border» individuals. Presence of perceptible sorcery serves me as the principal criterion for selecting paintings to my private collection of «haunted» pieces of art.

So it was just natural to me to settle in Jerusalem, the most mysterious place in the world. This town has a great influence on my paintings.

I studied fine art in Russia (Stavropol Art School) and Israel (Betsalel Academy of Fine Arts). I got M.A. Degree in writing in Moscow Literature Institute and D.M. Degree, as well as postgraduate course in psychiatry in Stavropol Medical Academy. I am a Fellow of Israel Professional Artists Association.

Painting for me is a spiritual practice. The main trends of my work are: consciousness-developing, art therapy and haunted paintings.

You can see my other paintings in the “Artmajeur” gallery

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I know that some properties of certain things are beyond an ordinary comprehension.

I feel the influence of this imperceptible properties of certain things on fates and fortunes.

I am sure that everyone can develop his ability to comprehend over the frame of five usual senses.

I consider that everyone enjoying his opened mind and sensitivity must to help all the others to develop their comprehension.

I can help people to broaden the consciousness and to overcome certain problems and sufferings.

The series of original paintings «Cats and Angels of Jerusalem» is dedicated to the cooperation of the cats – the most mystic animals on the Earth, with the angels – heavenly creatures, the nearest to us. Everybody can find angel’s and cat’s halves inside him.

The difficulty in marketing high dollar art

Posted by Admin - March 13th, 2012

Just thought I would say a few words on the GREAT difficulty had in trying to get ANYONE to pay attentio to my..what turned out to be an actual John Constable. What I have found, and it is nothiong new. Anytime I might have a realy valuable peice of art and it is to the point that no ne has discredited the peice or offered any other explanantion other than, (yes it could indeed be what it is) At this point, no one will even give  me a very rough estimate of any kind regaurding value. After dozens of attempts, with not one person saying anything but ..no matter how good a picture I took it was always..(not good enough).

Finaly, through luck and very strange coincidence it just so happend that an elderly friend of mine knew that his friends son was personal assistant to a major art auction house. From that point on. after pictures had ben sent. This person did not say (not good enough) he did say that he wanted to see the art peice at my earliest convenience. So I did just that. With in three days I was told very straighforwardlyabout the potentail value of my peice of art. This was incredible good fortune and definetly not the norm. I have always dreaded marketing art, especialy paintings. For me, who is not conncetd nor has a large bank account nor any respect in the art world, getting the attention of the right people is ….difficult.

The one thing that has changed and made it SOMEWHAT easier is that collectors post online specific works of art they want and if you have one they list and send a pic to them, they DO get right back to you with what is PROBABLY somewhat of a fair offer. My thinking has always ben, find the reatil average price if you can and then be luck if you can get half of that. I had another peice that the Jay Paul Getty museum had three other works of. They never returned m y corrospondence. Not even a (we are not intersted) despite three attempts..typical, at least for me.

Sotheby’s – Distinctive Styles

Posted by Admin - March 12th, 2012

This spring, Sotheby’s is delighted to offer a joint single-owner sale of fine English and European decorative arts from the estate of Roger Rechler and the Collection of Dorothy and Wendell Cherry.  Each of these collectors had a distinctive style favoring English, French and Continental furniture and decorative arts which transformed two rather different interiors, namely a fine formal townhouse in New York City’s Upper East Side and a beautiful turn-of-the-century Southern Colonial villa situated in idyllic Kentucky horse country.  Whilst building such distinctive collections, both collectors shared a passion for breeding and showing dogs, many of which lovingly shared their lives and their homes.

1969 GOLD LONG HANDLE GILLETTE ADJUSTABLE SAFETY

RAZOR ALL MY ITEMS ARE SOLD FOR BEST OFFER!

RICHARDS RAZORS; MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN’T REFUSE!

VINTAGE GOLD LONG HANDLE GILLETTE ADJUSTABLE SAFETY RAZOR. VERY CLEAN & VERY NICE. THE DATE CODE
IS O-4. The razor doesn’t have any plate loss but it does have some vintage wear on it, on the
edge wear you shave. You only can see the wear with a jewelry loop not with the naked eye.

This is the long handled “Black Beauty” razor. It is elegant in style and markedly different
in “feel” from the “Fatboy” or the “Slim.” The handle is not plastic but composite over metal.
This is last model of the popular mid-century 1-9 adjustables.

This razor has been sterilized, cleaned and polished. The opening and closing action is
smooth. The blade adjustment moves crisply clicking on all the numbers and half stops. This is
a very clean piece with no residue or brassing. The numbers are clean and black.
The piece is ready to start shaving.

Sotheby’s – Masterpieces of African Art from the Collection of the Late Werner Muensterberger

Posted by Admin - March 10th, 2012

Born in Dortmund, Germany, Werner Muensterberger (1913-2011) started collecting African art as a teenager, inspired to do so by his godfather, the renowned collector Baron Eduard von der Heydt.  Muensterberger held three PhDs, in psychiatry, anthropology, and art history, and specialized in psychoanalytic anthropology.  He was the author of several important early publications on African, Oceanic, and Native American art, including The Sculpture of Primitive Man (1955) and Universality of Tribal Art (1979); as well as Collecting: An Unruly Passion (1995), examining the psychology of the collector.  The auction features a small group of masterpieces acquired during a lifetime of collecting.  The sale is led by Muensterberger’s iconic Luluwa Helmet Mask, famous for its superb quality and monumental scale (estimate .5-2.5 million).
